More

The Pulmonary Hypertension Association (PHA) is a fast-growing association of patients, family members and medical professionals committed to maintaining the organization’s spirit of community and building opportunities for involvement and education. Pulmonary hypertension is a life-threatening illness described as high blood pressure in the lungs. It is a disease that knows no borders, races or social classes and affects people of all ages, although most often, it afflicts young women in the prime of their lives.

The international program internship offers students a structured experience working with PHA Staff as well as various international constituents. Interns will assist in providing services to patients, medical professionals and over 40 PH associations abroad. This support will enable us to continue to provide essential programming and services to the international PH community augmenting awareness of this disease on a global scale.

Interns will:

  • gain valuable experience in the field of managing an international program within a non-profit health organization
  • perform research on and help to coordinate projects relevant to PHA’s role as an international hub
  • facilitate and encourage communication between leaders of PH associations abroad
  • help with outreach to medical professionals around the world
  • perform research and help to prepare materials/documents leading to the further development of PHA’s international program
  • assist with coordinating regular international mailings
  • assist with the redesign of the international section of the website and development of other tools such as brochures and DVDs
  • help with administration of an international seed grant program
  • work with other departments within the organization as time and interest allow
  • receive a small stipend and free parking
  • work 25-40 hours/week (schedule is flexible)

You will be treated as a respected team member. Our office is a friendly and welcoming environment. If you would like to design a project that helps you meet your educational goals, we will work with you to achieve this.

Interns should:

  • have an interest in international PR particularly within a non-profit environment
  • posses strong oral and writing skills, as well as the ability to work well with a team and individually
  • be comfortable working/communicating with individuals whose native tongue is not English
