In 2013, and for the tenth consecutive year, PHA received a Four Star rating from Charity Navigator, the premier evaluator of charities in the United States. This designation indicates that PHA "adheres to good governance and other best practices and consistently executes its mission in a fiscally responsible way," according to Charity Navigator. "This exceptional designation differentiates the Pulmonary Hypertension Association from its peers and demonstrates to the public it is worthy of their trust." Great Nonprofits Top Rated Nonprofit 2013
PHA is honored to receive the prestigious 2013 Top-Rated Award from GreatNonprofits, a leading source of public reviews of nonprofit organizations. According to GreatNonprofits, PHA received this award “based on public support, recognition and positive online reviews.” Winners are “among the elite… under 1% of nonprofits nation-wide have achieved Top-Rated status.” This honor indicates to the public that PHA is an organization both trusted and supported nationally. The Better Business Bureau Wise Giving Alliance
PHA is a recognized member of the Better Business Bureau Wise Giving Alliance, the most well-known evaluator of ethical business practices and fiscal responsibility in the nation. In order to be considered a member of the Alliance, PHA must adhere to specific charity accountability standards issued by the Better Business Bureau (BBB). According to the Better Business Bureau, these standards are based on “fair, honest solicitation practices and ethical conduct by a charitable organization.” PHA is proud to be a member of the BBB Wise Giving Alliance.
Independent Charities of America “Best in America” Seal of Excellence
PHA was awarded the distinguished Independent Charities of America (ICA) “Best in America” Seal of Excellence, which is given to “the members of ICA that have, upon rigorous independent review, been able to certify, document, and demonstrate on an annual basis that they meet the highest standards of public accountability, program effectiveness, and cost effectiveness.” The Seal of Excellence signifies a caliber of public accountability and fiscal responsibility often unseen; The ICA notes, “fewer than 2,000 [charities] have been awarded the Seal of Excellence.” View PHA's Independent Charities of America listing
The National Organization for Rare Disorders (NORD) honors members of the U.S. Congress, patient advocates, medical researchers, and companies at the annual “Partners in Progress Celebration.” In 2012, PHA was honored with receiving the Abbey S. Meyers Leadership Award.
NORD awarded the Pulmonary Hypertension Association (PHA) the Abbey S. Meyers Leadership Award in 2012 for outstanding service to PHA members in advocacy, education and other key areas. PHA was selected for this award because strong and effective leadership has made PHA, “a major force in connecting patients globally, educating physicians about PH, and driving progress in the search for treatments or a cure for this disease.” PHA has been a member of NORD since 1993.
APEX 2010, the 22nd annual awards program recognizing excellence in publications, presented PHA with two Awards of Publication Excellence:
These awards recognize the changing face of both Pathlight and PHA’s website over the years as the Pulmonary Hypertension Association has continued to grow. According to the awards committee, “APEX Awards are based on excellence in graphic design, editorial content and the ability to achieve overall communications excellence. … With more than 3,700 entries, competition was exceptionally intense.” PHA is proud to accept these awards as recognition of our efforts to share engaging, informative and empowering information with the PH community in accessible and visually appealing ways.

APEX 2012, the 24th annual publication awards program, presented PHA with an Award for Publication Excellence for the publication of our 2011 annual report. APEX 2013 – For the second year in a row, PHA’s annual report received an Apex Award for Publication Excellence. Our publication was one of 78 reviewed by the contest judges.
