Special
Events - Kipp Palmer Memorial Golf Tournament
By Judy Palmer
A beautiful sunny day found family and friends remembering
Kipp Palmer on the golf course at Crossgates in Millersville,
Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.
This was the sixth year that most of these people came to
play and to remember Kipp. There were 64 golfers this year.
That number was down, but the number
of family members was up. Kimberly
Palmer Garcia and husband, Hector,
brought little Kipp Rolon, eight months
old and named for his grandfather. Grant
Palmer and Kathleen O’Hearn introduced
their three-month-old son, Dylan Patrick.
As usual, it was not just a charity golf
tournament but a reunion.
Kipp’s mother Kay, 89, was able to
come again and did her usual great job with the raffle tickets,
selling nearly $800 worth! Lori, Todd’s wife, was the
tournament photographer, taking pictures of each foursome
for their souvenir.
Grandchildren Tucker, 11, and Dagny, 6, had a great day
riding in the beverage cart and helping family friend
Maryanne Leauby deliver cold drinks to players on the
course.
On hole 17, a 2005 Subaru Tribeca SUV sat just waiting
for someone to hit a hole in one. Frank Nolt from Lancaster
County Motors donated the car as well as played in this year’s
tournament. We are thankful to
the dealership as well as to Sue
Harbold who was our hole in
one watcher again this year.
Todd Palmer and
Virtual Farm Creative was
again responsible for
maintaining the web site,
sponsor signs, goody bag labels
and great programs!
Joel Langdon was our
coordinator for the sixth year,
while Lucy Toriello was
registration handler. We are thankful for the help we received
from the Pulmonary Hypertension Association staff and to all
of those who helped make this another successful event—earning nearly $12,000 donated to PH research. It is a good
feeling just knowing that we are helping!
