Events - Indianapolis Amazin’ Race for PH Cure
Saturday May 20, 2006
By Denise Wathen, Event Coordinator and Indianapolis’ PH Support Group Leader
The Indianapolis’ PH Support Group held its first fundraiser on May 20, 2006. Given the prior week of rain and low temperatures the thoughts of the event being rained out were inevitable. But Saturday turned out to be a beautiful day along with beautiful temperatures—in the high 60’s.
Near the tail end of the event, a Motorcycle group “The Gold Wind Road Riders” drove into town on beautiful motorcycles and laid down what would be the largest donation for the Amazin’ Race for a PH Cure. Six months ago Mr. Snapp’s wife was diagnosed with PH. His riding group made a collection and donated over $300.00. Mr. Snapp and his son did the Amazin’ Race and enjoyed themselves while taking home the prize for the largest donation and the 1st place prize for completing the race in the least amount of time. They completed the race in 2 hours and 5 minutes. The Sherwood family came in second place receiving a Silver medallion. All contestants received gift certificates donated by the local Nashville shops.
While the group leader set out PHA items to sell as well as free literature about PH, the following shops played host to the game challenges and contestants: The Harvest Moon Pizzeria; The Nashville General Store; Brown County Winery; T.J. Cath’s Brown County Ice Cream & Bakery; The Honeysuckle Gallery and Jane Gore Realty.
