Several months ago 4 'PH'riends, Amy Stamp, Maggie Bonatakis, Patty Farrow and Annette Markin decided to work together to help their community by making scarves for the needy. They knitted and crocheted 30 scarves in all and labeled each with the message, "Made Especially for You by the PH Community." These special gifts were then delivered to a non-profit organization in Omaha, NE called Together, Inc. They will be distributing them to very needy men, women and children in the Nebraska area.
“The idea for this project actually grew from something that quite a few 'PH'riends did after Hurricane Katrina struck a couple of years ago,” Annette tells us. “Omaha received over 100 Katrina victims that were not prepared for their first Nebraska winter. I put out a request on the discussion board and was thrilled to receive many, many scarves and hats for these 'new Nebraskans.' At that time, Together, Inc was the only organization willing to take our gifts. I had the special labels made and attached them onto those items also.”
Together, Inc. has asked this group of 'PH'riends to make more scarves and the group will be featured in one of their upcoming newsletters.
