One Mile Walk For PH
November 3, 2007
The University of California, San Diego "One Mile Walk for PH" had no entry fee but that did not stop the planners from raising $50,000.
Organizer Sandee Lombardi, a nurse at the UCSD Medical Center Pulmonary Hypertension Program, said 300 walkers participated in this patient-focused event which also featured a raffle. "Everything came from patients. They donated and organized so much," Sandy said.
Among this year's raffle items were a Harley Davidson, clothing and accessories, autographed celebrity items, a spa package, a high definition flat-screen TV and much more. The event included face painting for the kids and was run with the help of UCSD students with the PH doctors leading the walk.
The fact that this event took place so soon after the San Diego fires is a special demonstration of the commitment of our community to moving the fight against PH forward.
