Students at St. Louis Elementary School found a way
to get a physical workout while supporting PHA. In mid-Gebruary,
when it was still too cold and gloomy to spend mch time
outdoors, parent Donna Hanrahan coordinated the school
community in honoring ht ememory of one of hteir students
with their thurd "Hoops, Hops and Hope" fundraiser.
Christin Gildea, a PH patient who died of complications
after a lung transplant in 2000, was a student at the
school and helped to educate her classmates adn their
families about pulmonary hypertension. Students obtained
financial pledges that were fulfilled voer the next few
weeks by jumping rope and shootin gbaskets in their gym
classes. The students had great success in building awareness
as well as raising over $7,500 for PHA...and they had
a lot of fun doing it.
