Events - Fish Fry in San Diego
February 8, 2008
By Organizer Lori Bonesteell
This was a small community effort in the memory of my sister, Doreen, who lost her fight to PPH 6 years ago.
The fish was perfectly cooked and delicious! We had about 35 volunteers helping with selling tickets, setting up the hall, buying, cooking, serving, cleaning. Everyone did a fantastic job and the cooks looked great in their “Cookin’ Up a Cure” aprons.
My mom did a phenomenal job in selling tickets (at least 150) and getting additional donations from those that couldn't attend. My sister Doreen would have been proud. When she was still with us she used to say that she wished she could win the lottery so that she could give a million dollars to PHA for research in finding a cure. We'll never reach that amount, but we're doing what we can! We are tentatively planning to do it again next year!
