Daughter of Patient Honors Her Father at Her Wedding

This past June, Yoamna and Scott Miller got married. Yoamna’s father, Joseph Picone, was diagnosed with pulmonary arterial hypertension in the spring of 2002, and the prognosis was not good. Yoamna says, “Here it is, 10 years later and by the grace of God, I am so happy and proud to say that on that very special day, my wedding day, my dad walked me down the aisle.”

Yoamna wanted to honor her father in a special way, so in lieu of traditional wedding favors, she made a gift to PHA. She gave each of her guests a PH ribbon pin and a card explaining PH, her and her father’s story, and how PHA has helped over the years. Yoamna says, “If it weren’t for the support and research PHA does, my story would not have had such a happy ending.”
