Chronic Thromboembolic Pulmonary Hypertension - What You Need to Know

Learn about Chronic Thromboembolic Pulmonary Hypertension (CTEPH) from two unique perspectives. Richard Channick, MD from Massachusetts General Hospital, will provide an overview of the disease and available treatments. Amanda Harvey-McKee, a former CTEPH patient, will discuss her experience living with CTEPH and the changes in her life since undergoing a pulmonary thromboendarterectomy (PTE).

Dr. Richard Channick is the Director of the Pulmonary Hypertension and Thromboendarterectomy program at Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Channick is actively involved in PHA activities and currently serves as the Chair of PHA’s Scientific Leadership Council. He has authored, co-authored and reviewed numerous publications and is frequently invited to participate in speaking engagements.

Diagnosed in June 2004 with CTEPH, Amanda Harvey-McKee underwent PTE surgery at the University of California, San Diego in October 2006.  Amanda is the St. Louis PHA Support Group Co-Leader and a CTEPH Mentor.  Following her surgery, Amanda has been able to regain quality to her life through hard work and perseverance.
