As PHA’s president, Rino has helped to move PHA from a 1,000 member rare illness association with a $132,000 annual income in 1998 to over 10,000 members, an additional 30,000 supporters and an $8.5 million income delivering research and programs for patients, family members and medical professionals. Rino has been honored to receive both the Leadership Award of the Pulmonary Circulation Assembly of the American Thoracic Society and the EXCEL Award for Excellence in Non-profit Leadership of the Center for Nonprofit Advancement.
