Dr. Michael Mathier is currently an Assistant Professor of Medicine, Director of the Pulmonary Hypertension Program and Director of the Cardiovascular Fellowship Program at the University of Pittsburgh. Other positions Dr. Mathier has had over the years involved being an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Allegheny University of the Health Sciences in Pittsburgh. Also, he was an Associate Director of the Cardiovascular Fellowship Program at the University of Pittsburgh.

Dr. Mathier has extensive experience in the evaluation and management of patients with cardiomyopathy, advanced heart failure, pulmonary arterial hypertension, and those who have undergone cardiac transplantation. Dr. Mathier’s research interests are in the areas of heart failure and pulmonary arterial hypertension, with particular interest in right ventricular responses to pressure overload and right ventricular failure.
