Title of Study:
A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study to evaluate the short-term efficacy and safety of PRX-08066 in patients with pulmonary hypertension and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
Brief Description of Objectives of Study:
This phase 2 research study is being conducted to see if PRX-08066 can lower pulmonary artery pressures in patients with pulmonary hypertension associated with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (like emphysema). Approximately 72 adults aged 25 to 79 years old will be enrolled and treated with either PRX-08066 or placebo. Other objectives of the study include an assessment of the safety and tolerability of PRX-08066 and how this study drug affects participants' 6 minute walk distance, WHO Functional Classification, shortness of breath at rest and exercise, lung function, oxygen saturation, and other echocardiography measurements.
