Conference planning staff, Jess Hardy and Jennie Carman, answered your questions about Conference. PHA Webmaster Diane Greenhalgh was also on hand. |
ali (Apr 8, 2008 7:54:38 PM)
Hi JessH, Jennie and Diane
Moderator/Jennie (Apr 8, 2008 7:55:04 PM)
Welcome everyone! This is Jennie, PHA’s Meeting Planning Associate, and I will be moderating tonight’s chat. This is your chance to ask general questions about Conference – what to expect, what to pack and how to make the most of your time at Conference!
Moderator/Jennie (Apr 8, 2008 7:55:32 PM)
The transcript for tonight’s chat will be available at http://www.phassociation.org/Chat/.
Speaker/JessH (Apr 8, 2008 7:56:17 PM)
Welcome! My name is Jess Hardy, PHA's Associate Director of Meetings Planning. Jennie and I have been working on 2008 Conference planning for the last year and we wanted to give people the opportunity to ask questions about the upcoming event.
ali (Apr 8, 2008 7:57:55 PM)
I am at the Springfield, MO support group meeting
Speaker/JessH (Apr 8, 2008 7:58:58 PM)
Welcome Springfield, MO Support Group!
Mack (Apr 8, 2008 7:59:11 PM)
Howd y All
ali (Apr 8, 2008 7:59:37 PM)
We would like to know if you have an estimate of when we may hear about scholarships.
Moderator/Jennie (Apr 8, 2008 7:59:37 PM)
Good question. If you applied for a scholarship after Feb. 1, you should be hearing back from the Committee within the next couple of weeks. Any applications submitted after April 1 can expect to hear back in May.
MrsH (Apr 8, 2008 7:59:40 PM)
Well I'm across town in Alexandria, so if you just holler real loud, I'm sure I can hear you.
Speaker/JessH (Apr 8, 2008 7:59:57 PM)
Hi Mack, where are you joining us from?
Mack (Apr 8, 2008 8:00:22 PM)
Arizona, Colorado River Plateau
ali (Apr 8, 2008 8:00:25 PM)
HELLO ELLEN
MrsH (Apr 8, 2008 8:00:35 PM)
HELLO ALICIA
Speaker/JessH (Apr 8, 2008 8:00:47 PM)
Will this be anyone's first time at Conference?
Mack (Apr 8, 2008 8:00:57 PM)
yes mine
ali (Apr 8, 2008 8:01:04 PM)
YES, MINE
MrsH (Apr 8, 2008 8:01:09 PM)
Yes, I was diagnosed just before Minneapolis, so it will be my first
Mack (Apr 8, 2008 8:01:16 PM)
is this slow tonight or is it me lol
ali (Apr 8, 2008 8:01:23 PM)
oops i was still hollering
MrsH (Apr 8, 2008 8:01:31 PM)
You are being moderated, Mack
Speaker/JessH (Apr 8, 2008 8:02:40 PM)
Great! well we are expecting about 1,200 people at Conference - split about 50/50 between patients/caregivers and medical professionals.
ali (Apr 8, 2008 8:02:42 PM)
If I drive, will scholarship funds cover the cost of gas?
Moderator/Jennie (Apr 8, 2008 8:02:42 PM)
Yes, if your award covers travel costs, you will be reimbursed for gas.
Diane at PHA (Apr 8, 2008 8:04:28 PM)
Any of you planning on coming to our online community networking session Friday morning at Conference?
Mack (Apr 8, 2008 8:04:53 PM)
yes Diane
MrsH (Apr 8, 2008 8:04:56 PM)
Absolutely, and we have a uniform for the gathering.
Mack (Apr 8, 2008 8:05:18 PM)
and I have a ? about that
MrsH (Apr 8, 2008 8:05:23 PM)
Will there be a structure to the Thursday night meet and greet, or will it be simply a social venue, without a program?
Speaker/JessH (Apr 8, 2008 8:05:23 PM)
The meet & greet on Thursday will be a social venue where patients and caregivers can gather. We will be giving away free networking cards for attendees, which you can exchange with people you meet at Conference to keep in touch after the event.
ali (Apr 8, 2008 8:05:36 PM)
yes, we are coming Friday morning
Mack (Apr 8, 2008 8:05:46 PM)
I am concerned that the T shirt is Mandatory, the way they have it posted in caps no less “OFFICIAL UNIFORM.” Has this been sanctioned by PHA, do we really want SOB on a shirt around kids
ali (Apr 8, 2008 8:05:50 PM)
and April is in the support group session
MrsH (Apr 8, 2008 8:05:56 PM)
That's fabulous.
MrsH (Apr 8, 2008 8:06:26 PM)
The children are SOB too, Mack. Several children have shirts ordered.
Mack (Apr 8, 2008 8:06:28 PM)
I thought a T shirt was provided
MrsH (Apr 8, 2008 8:06:45 PM)
You may wear whatever you like. Obviously you will.
Mack (Apr 8, 2008 8:07:06 PM)
and this has been aproved by PHA ?
MrsH (Apr 8, 2008 8:07:09 PM)
Has any information gone out about the group leaders sessions?
Speaker/JessH (Apr 8, 2008 8:07:09 PM)
We haven't sent out any information yet about the Support Group Leaders session, other than it's time: 10:30-12:30 on Friday, June 20. Debbie Castro, Director of Volunteer Services, will be sending more information shortly.
MrsH (Apr 8, 2008 8:07:34 PM)
Gee, PHA is in the wardrobe business now??
Diane at PHA (Apr 8, 2008 8:09:26 PM)
The SOB t-shirts are being done by one of the groups coming, not PHA. PHA always has Conference t-shirts available as part of registration so no need to bring one, though you're welcome to.
MrsH (Apr 8, 2008 8:09:45 PM)
Thank you.
Mack (Apr 8, 2008 8:09:54 PM)
thats good Jess anything on Thurday for Suport Group Leaders
Speaker/JessH (Apr 8, 2008 8:09:54 PM)
We don't have any specific programing for support group leaders on Thursday, but we would encourage you to go to the Meet & Greet!
ali (Apr 8, 2008 8:11:05 PM)
Which session is Dr. Chakinala doing?
Speaker/JessH (Apr 8, 2008 8:11:05 PM)
Dr. Chakinala is speaking on a panel called PAH and Low Oxygen Levels: Let's talk about Sleep Apnea, COPD and ILD.
ali (Apr 8, 2008 8:11:33 PM)
Oh, that's right...it did ctch my eye before
ali (Apr 8, 2008 8:12:04 PM)
Come on Ellen....ask away
Speaker/JessH (Apr 8, 2008 8:12:16 PM)
We actually have over 120 medical presenters this year at Conference - more than any other Conference!
ali (Apr 8, 2008 8:12:29 PM)
wow
ali (Apr 8, 2008 8:12:31 PM)
tht is wonderful
Mack (Apr 8, 2008 8:12:41 PM)
WTG Guys Good Job
ali (Apr 8, 2008 8:12:54 PM)
OK, I'm already dropping vowels!
MrsH (Apr 8, 2008 8:13:30 PM)
N, tht wld b "k 'm lrdy drppng vwls
ali (Apr 8, 2008 8:14:00 PM)
you are too funny
MrsH (Apr 8, 2008 8:14:02 PM)
Well, I wondered if anyone from Inova was coming, besides Sidnie Hess... Dr Nathan, or Oksana Shlobin or Dr Ahmad
Speaker/JessH (Apr 8, 2008 8:14:02 PM)
Actually just Sidnie Hess is speaking at this point. She is on a panel called "Treadmils, Bicycles and PAH: Questions about Exercise"
MrsH (Apr 8, 2008 8:14:04 PM)
Oh, Cap'n Cheerful is coming.
MrsH (Apr 8, 2008 8:14:27 PM)
Yes, Sidnie was the first one to order a t-shirt.
Spektre (Apr 8, 2008 8:15:20 PM)
not to the conference, no
MrsH (Apr 8, 2008 8:15:52 PM)
No, just in here, to spread the love.
Mack (Apr 8, 2008 8:15:53 PM)
I heard that Mild Ph is going to be a Topic also ??
Speaker/JessH (Apr 8, 2008 8:15:53 PM)
Yes, there will be a support group for Mild PHers
ali (Apr 8, 2008 8:19:19 PM)
well, I don't have any other specific questions. Thank you very much for doing this
MrsH (Apr 8, 2008 8:19:32 PM)
Do you know if there will be a space for we the insomniacs to gather in the wee hours? And do we know about wifi access in the symposium area?
Speaker/JessH (Apr 8, 2008 8:19:32 PM)
We will have a free room (with ice packs for Flolan users) that will be open 24/7. Also, we will have a cyber cafe set up in the exhibit area.
MrsH (Apr 8, 2008 8:20:46 PM)
Oh! Will the cyber cafe actually have cafe? We the coffee addicted love hotel meetings, just for that reason...
Mack (Apr 8, 2008 8:20:55 PM)
what time are the meals scheduled and will there be snacks avalable after breaks and drinks?
Speaker/JessH (Apr 8, 2008 8:20:55 PM)
Dinner on Friday and Saturday runs from 7-9 pm. Breakfast on Saturday and Sunday runs from 7:30-8:45 am. Lunch on Saturday is from 12:30-2:15 pm. There will be morning and afternoon breaks with food and drinks every day.
Speaker/JessH (Apr 8, 2008 8:21:32 PM)
Sorry, no coffe in the cyber cafe...just laptops, but there will be plenty of coffee served at the breaks!
MrsH (Apr 8, 2008 8:22:18 PM)
What!! (I'll bring my coffee pot so I don't get deprived..)
Speaker/JessH (Apr 8, 2008 8:23:06 PM)
Unfortunately I don't think there is a specific session on that topic.
Spektre (Apr 8, 2008 8:23:38 PM)
oh well....
Speaker/JessH (Apr 8, 2008 8:23:46 PM)
But we do have a session on "Talking with Medical Professionals" which will talk about making the most of your "8 minute" office visit and when to seek a second opinion.
Mack (Apr 8, 2008 8:25:16 PM)
Debbie Castro will be there correct?
Moderator/Jennie (Apr 8, 2008 8:25:16 PM)
Yes, Debbie will be there, working on many different aspects of Conference.
Diane at PHA (Apr 8, 2008 8:25:21 PM)
So while there will be coffee for you caffeine addicts elsewhere, the cyber cafe is more about having computers for people to check their email on and provide an avenue for you all to share your Journeys stories. We will have the largest gathering of PH patients so we want to use the opportunity to gather your stories about living with PH as well as your Conference stories. I'm also hoping to do demos of what the PHA website has to offer. More to come on the Journeys cafe, as we're calling it, later.
Spektre (Apr 8, 2008 8:25:33 PM)
"Minutes 2 and 3...Establishing it is all psychosomatic..."
Mack (Apr 8, 2008 8:26:05 PM)
Thast Cool Diane :-)
MrsH (Apr 8, 2008 8:26:07 PM)
Do you have an idea of the breakdown of Drs vs Nurses vs RRTs in the 600 or so, and how many of them it's a first time?
Speaker/JessH (Apr 8, 2008 8:26:07 PM)
We typically have an equal showing of doctors and allied health proffessionals. I'm not sure off the top of my head how many are first time attendees.
MrsH (Apr 8, 2008 8:27:43 PM)
So, Diane, this is off topic and you can answer off the board if you want, but Heather and I have been discussing building a NOVA site for our group, on Yahoo's or Google's server and our own domain. Would there be a way to link that with the support group page on phassociation.org?
Mack (Apr 8, 2008 8:28:48 PM)
My Ph Doc can't make it but will be a guest speaker for r support group in Aug, will you have any packets for the ones that can't attend
Speaker/JessH (Apr 8, 2008 8:28:48 PM)
Each panel is supposed to provide a handout for attendees, which we will collect and post on the web. In addition, most of the session will be audiotaped and attendees will receive a CD with the audio of all the sessions on it. People who don't attend can also order this CD from our website.
Diane at PHA (Apr 8, 2008 8:29:03 PM)
Meg in SC, welcome!
meg in SC (Apr 8, 2008 8:30:34 PM)
Hey, thanks!! I'm very excited abonut being able to come
Moderator/Jennie (Apr 8, 2008 8:30:42 PM)
will this be your first Conference Meg?
meg in SC (Apr 8, 2008 8:31:05 PM)
Yes. I was diagnosed 11/06.
Speaker/JessH (Apr 8, 2008 8:31:31 PM)
Another neat addition we are doing this year is pre-conference networking sessions for regional areas, so you can meet other patients who live in your area.
Speaker/JessH (Apr 8, 2008 8:32:03 PM)
these sessions will occur on Friday morning.
Moderator/Jennie (Apr 8, 2008 8:32:18 PM)
Do any of the past Conference attendees on here have any tips for first-time attendees? What to pack, or what to expect?
Diane at PHA (Apr 8, 2008 8:32:41 PM)
The regional sessions are at the same time as the online community networking session but they're built so you can come and go so you can attend a couple.
MrsH (Apr 8, 2008 8:32:55 PM)
Now THAT'S actually a very smart idea! We have three support groups nearby and I only know maybe half of each one.
meg in SC (Apr 8, 2008 8:32:56 PM)
Tell me what I need to pack. Are any of the sessions "dressy," or are we just comfy?
Speaker/JessH (Apr 8, 2008 8:32:56 PM)
Good Question! The confernece is really casual - you can certainly dress comfy. I would recomend dressing in layers because the hotel meeting rooms can be cold with the AC.
meg in SC (Apr 8, 2008 8:33:02 PM)
I understand that there is a session for those of us on the PHA listserv.
Mack (Apr 8, 2008 8:33:32 PM)
I get to bring my own Personel Nurse :-) aka my wife :-)
Diane at PHA (Apr 8, 2008 8:33:57 PM)
Yes!!! One of the Friday morning networking sessions will be for the online community -- message board, listserv and chat participants.
meg in SC (Apr 8, 2008 8:34:20 PM)
That's great for you, Mack. And by the way, I think I read on the website for the hotel that there are coffee pots in the rooms.
MrsH (Apr 8, 2008 8:34:31 PM)
How are the regional sessions broken down?
Speaker/JessH (Apr 8, 2008 8:34:31 PM)
Unfortunately since we don't have unlimited meeting rooms available, we did have to make the regions general - Northeast, Southeast, Middle West, South Central, Mountain Region & Pacific Region.
Mack (Apr 8, 2008 8:34:58 PM)
then I better pack some Java and fillters
Speaker/JessH (Apr 8, 2008 8:35:32 PM)
Welcome Masonh! Where are you joining us from?
masonh (Apr 8, 2008 8:35:46 PM)
hi wasnt sure if i was in
masonh (Apr 8, 2008 8:35:56 PM)

ali (Apr 8, 2008 8:35:59 PM)
Hola masonman
meg in SC (Apr 8, 2008 8:36:01 PM)
Hi, Mason!
MrsH (Apr 8, 2008 8:36:06 PM)
You're in, but you look blue...
Mack (Apr 8, 2008 8:36:14 PM)
he is another follow Arizonian
masonh (Apr 8, 2008 8:36:17 PM)
feeling blue lol
meg in SC (Apr 8, 2008 8:36:45 PM)
I've not flown before so clue me in. I'm on oxygen, can't take my tanks on board, etc.
Speaker/JessH (Apr 8, 2008 8:36:45 PM)
Great Question. Unfortunatley that's not one I can answer since each patients' situation is different. I would suggest talking to you physician about your travel plans. Also you can visit http://www.phassociation.org/Learn/PH_Tips/travel.asp for tips.
MrsH (Apr 8, 2008 8:36:49 PM)
what did the nurse say?
meg in SC (Apr 8, 2008 8:36:51 PM)
Just so you're not turning blue lol
masonh (Apr 8, 2008 8:36:53 PM)
hows this
Mack (Apr 8, 2008 8:36:56 PM)
k mason and I ahve to figure what region we fit in then
MrsH (Apr 8, 2008 8:37:06 PM)
Much better, Mason
Spektre (Apr 8, 2008 8:37:26 PM)
There are portable concentrators some airlines alloew
masonh (Apr 8, 2008 8:37:33 PM)
im not connecting well tonight
MrsH (Apr 8, 2008 8:37:35 PM)
Meg, I fly frequently with an Inogen portable concentrator, and it is becoming rather routine at the airports... they hardly ask me about it anymore
masonh (Apr 8, 2008 8:37:43 PM)
let me retry brb
ali (Apr 8, 2008 8:38:15 PM)
it is slow tonight mason
meg in SC (Apr 8, 2008 8:38:22 PM)
Yeah, but rental for them is about $300 and I can buy Oxygen from usairways for about $100
MrsH (Apr 8, 2008 8:38:55 PM)
That's $100 for each leg of the flight. Hope you're flying nonstop!
masonh (Apr 8, 2008 8:38:56 PM)
o ok
Speaker/JessH (Apr 8, 2008 8:38:57 PM)
Mack - Arizona would be considered South Central for the regional networking sesions, along with New Mexico, Texas and Okalhoma.
meg in SC (Apr 8, 2008 8:39:00 PM)
How do I change from being a blue person?
Speaker/JessH (Apr 8, 2008 8:39:24 PM)
Try the "settings" button. That should fix it.
Diane at PHA (Apr 8, 2008 8:39:40 PM)
Mason, fyi, things are a little slower tonight, or it appears that way anyway, because the questions are being moderated. Meaning Jennie is reading them first then posting.
Moderator/Jennie (Apr 8, 2008 8:39:40 PM)
This is true. Sorry if it is a little slow. Jess and I are new at hosting chats.
MrsH (Apr 8, 2008 8:39:43 PM)
Meg, click on Settings and choose your picture
Mack (Apr 8, 2008 8:39:52 PM)
and Meg you can't bring a poratble into the terminal I took a flight last fall and it was a learning experience traveling with O2
meg in SC (Apr 8, 2008 8:40:46 PM)
OK, I THINK I am now an icon.
Spektre (Apr 8, 2008 8:40:49 PM)
??? Portable concentrators are allowed at all terminals I have seen...
Spektre (Apr 8, 2008 8:40:51 PM)
Not all airlines allow them yet
Speaker/JessH (Apr 8, 2008 8:41:24 PM)
Is anyone planning on participating in the conference Fashion Show?
Diane at PHA (Apr 8, 2008 8:41:43 PM)
The travelling tips are great, including the tips about oxygen. And the tip about calling the airline and asking their specific rules ahead of time is key. http://www.phassociation.org/Learn/PH_Tips/travel.asp
meg in SC (Apr 8, 2008 8:41:53 PM)
I don't have a pump or I would.
Mack (Apr 8, 2008 8:41:58 PM)
if I can help answer any other traveling with O2 questions Meg email me and I answer them if I can
meg in SC (Apr 8, 2008 8:42:53 PM)
Thanks lots, everyone! this is new to me, and this old dog is busy learning lots of new things.!
masonh (Apr 8, 2008 8:42:55 PM)
do u have to wear anything special
Speaker/JessH (Apr 8, 2008 8:42:55 PM)
Nope you can wear what ever you want. Its just a fun opportunity for Flolan and Remodulin patients (men, women & children) to show the ingenious ways that they hide their pumps or proudly flaunt them.
Speaker/JessH (Apr 8, 2008 8:43:58 PM)
If anyone is interested in participating, you can email Jillian Timm at Jillian@PHAssociation.org. she is collecting names and can provide more information.
Speaker/JessH (Apr 8, 2008 8:44:13 PM)
It's a really fun event!
Diane at PHA (Apr 8, 2008 8:44:25 PM)
Since most of you haven't been to a Conference before you might not know the "Living with the Pump" Fashion Show is one of the most popular events. We're looking for "models" to show off how you hide your pump or show it off.
Mack (Apr 8, 2008 8:44:30 PM)
dinner brb
Moderator/Jennie (Apr 8, 2008 8:44:38 PM)
What aspect of Conference is everyone looking forward to the most?
MrsH (Apr 8, 2008 8:45:39 PM)
The public drunkenness of people I have only suspected to be party animals. I am daily pondering this.
Spektre (Apr 8, 2008 8:45:42 PM)
If I were able to go...meeting al the lovely ladies.
Diane at PHA (Apr 8, 2008 8:45:52 PM)
Meeting all of you and the other online community PHriends at the online community networking session. :)
meg in SC (Apr 8, 2008 8:45:58 PM)
I'm just looking forward to being with LOTS of people who understand me and my problems.
MrsH (Apr 8, 2008 8:46:04 PM)
The Tango Competition?
meg in SC (Apr 8, 2008 8:46:21 PM)
The what????
MrsH (Apr 8, 2008 8:46:58 PM)
Meg, you are entered in the first heat! They didn't tell you??? :P
Moderator/Jennie (Apr 8, 2008 8:47:01 PM)
Sadly, there is no Tango Competition. Maybe something we could think about for 2010 :)
meg in SC (Apr 8, 2008 8:47:24 PM)
I signed up that I would be willing to help at the conference. What can I do to help? I am participating in one of the patient led sessions.
Speaker/JessH (Apr 8, 2008 8:47:24 PM)
We need lots of voluneers at conference - people to work the registration table, serve as room hosts, etc. If you are interested in volunteering, please email Debbie Castro, Director of Volunteer Serivces, at Debbie@PHAssociation.org. She's great - she'll work with you to help you find a task you are interested in that doesn't interfere with sessions you want to attend.
meg in SC (Apr 8, 2008 8:47:30 PM)
No, and now I know about you people. Jokesters, huh?
MrsH (Apr 8, 2008 8:47:40 PM)
Yes.
Spektre (Apr 8, 2008 8:47:47 PM)
Constantly
MrsH (Apr 8, 2008 8:47:54 PM)
Look out. That's all I can say.
meg in SC (Apr 8, 2008 8:48:10 PM)
So no PH Dancing with the Stars?????
Spektre (Apr 8, 2008 8:48:20 PM)
Some of the pranks take my breath away...
MrsH (Apr 8, 2008 8:48:24 PM)
If you see a Redhead and an Eight-Ball coming down the hallway, look out.
meg in SC (Apr 8, 2008 8:48:37 PM)
Ha Ha
MrsH (Apr 8, 2008 8:48:49 PM)
Hey, I danced a hora last weekend at a Bat Mitzvah. I think I can do anything now!
meg in SC (Apr 8, 2008 8:49:20 PM)
Maybe a better competition would be Dancing with the Oxygen tanks.
MrsH (Apr 8, 2008 8:50:12 PM)
Now THERE'S an idea! We could dress up our o2 tanks and have a tank/concentrator fashion show.
MrsH (Apr 8, 2008 8:50:35 PM)
I made a skirt for mine when I had to go to a black tie function. We looked good!
meg in SC (Apr 8, 2008 8:51:11 PM)
You know, some places have dontests where you dress your dog to look like you. Maybe that's a thought
MrsH (Apr 8, 2008 8:51:36 PM)
My dogs won't wear clothes. My o2 was next in line.
Spektre (Apr 8, 2008 8:51:37 PM)
What arrangements are worked out with local hospitals?
Speaker/JessH (Apr 8, 2008 8:51:37 PM)
We have a whole nurse/doctor-on-call system. There on-call number will be printed in the Conference program, which people can use if a medical issue arises while at Conference. There will be a nurse on-call at all times. We also have an attending PH physician who will admit patients to Methodist Hospital should the need arise.
meg in SC (Apr 8, 2008 8:52:21 PM)
That's good to know I.C.E.
Speaker/JessH (Apr 8, 2008 8:53:30 PM)
Yes, all the information about the on-call system will be printed in the Confernece program book and on signage at the hotel. The hotel staff and PHA staff will all be prepped ahead of time about procedures ICE
Spektre (Apr 8, 2008 8:53:37 PM)
I can see the flight out now to the PH conference. "IN the event that the cabin should depressurize, masks will drop from the ceiling that you can ...well...ignore since you have your own. In teh event of a water landing, take the life vest from under your seat...place as such and inflate with the plastic tube....in 4 hours when you've managed to inflate it..."

Right now in addition to battling PH, I'm having radiation for breast cancer. Talk about a double whammy!
MrsH (Apr 8, 2008 8:54:21 PM)
Oh MEG! I hope this is a GREAT trip for you! When is your rad over?
meg in SC (Apr 8, 2008 8:55:56 PM)
It was supposed to be done 4/29. I had my 15th treatment today, but my dr. has suspended it until next monday. My skin is breaking down and I need time to heal. But talk about weakness and fatigue---WHEW
MrsH (Apr 8, 2008 8:56:42 PM)
Yes, Ma'am I understand. So you should be well finished by travel-to-Houston time.
meg in SC (Apr 8, 2008 8:57:17 PM)
YEAH!!! From wherever you are, you will hear me shout!
Moderator/Jennie (Apr 8, 2008 8:58:47 PM)

meg in SC (Apr 8, 2008 8:59:02 PM)

MrsH (Apr 8, 2008 8:59:24 PM)
What? You can't type in the dark??
meg in SC (Apr 8, 2008 8:59:28 PM)
Thanks for helping us and answering questions!! You guys are the best!
MrsH (Apr 8, 2008 9:00:09 PM)
Okay, so what about shuttles from the airport... this was kind of confusing in the hotel site...
Speaker/JessH (Apr 8, 2008 9:00:09 PM)
PHA recomends that people take a Super Shuttel to save on travel costs. There are two airports in Houston. A Super Shuttle from Bush Intercontinetal to the hotel is $23. From Houston Hobby, the cost is approximately $18.

Speaker/JessH (Apr 8, 2008 9:00:46 PM)
This is something we can look into for 2010!
Moderator/Jennie (Apr 8, 2008 9:00:53 PM)

Then those unable to attend could still attend...an idea for next year perhaps
Speaker/JessH (Apr 8, 2008 9:00:55 PM)
good idea
Mack (Apr 8, 2008 9:02:28 PM)
is shuttle chaper then a cab?
Speaker/JessH (Apr 8, 2008 9:02:28 PM)
Yes, considerably. Taxis are $45 and $25 for Bush and Hobby.
Diane at PHA (Apr 8, 2008 9:02:46 PM)
You should be sure to share your stories during Conference at the Journeys cafe so we can share them each day with people who can't attend. They're not webcams, but just as engaging.
MrsH (Apr 8, 2008 9:02:59 PM)
I think we're going to end up renting a car. Maybe we can find folks who are arriving at the same time and offer a ride.
Speaker/JessH (Apr 8, 2008 9:03:25 PM)
This is a great idea!
Diane at PHA (Apr 8, 2008 9:04:10 PM)
I'm sure closer to conference when people know their itineraries you could find people on the boards.
masonh (Apr 8, 2008 9:05:13 PM)
what kind of breakfast will there be? like a buffet?
Speaker/JessH (Apr 8, 2008 9:05:13 PM)
breakfast will be a buffet. There will be programing going on during the breakfasts - so we encourage people to arrive on time :)
Moderator/Jennie (Apr 8, 2008 9:06:03 PM)
Ok everyone. Thanks for all the great questions. If you have any more please send either Jess or myself an email and we'd be happy to answer them, or join us tomorrow at 1pm for another Conference chat.
Speaker/JessH (Apr 8, 2008 9:06:24 PM)
