Parents’ Mixer
Remember how nice it was to hire a babysitter and go out with your friends? We didn’t think so. As a refresher, join other parents in the Parents' Mixer at Conference and unwind as you enjoy this adult-only event.

Pre-Conference Meet-up for Families of Children and Teens with PH

Support Groups:

  • Teen and Pre-Teen PH Patients: Ages 10 – 18
  • Familial PH: For those with two or more family members diagnosed with PH
  • Parents and Siblings of PH Patients: For family members of patients under the age of 12
  • Parents and Siblings of PH Patients: For family members of patients between the ages of 13 and 19
  • Teen and Pre-Teen PH Patients: Ages 10 – 18

Patient/Family Led Sessions

Let Your Light Shine Bright: Helping Your Family and Your Young PH Patient Cope
Living with a pulmonary hypertension diagnosis as a child can be challenging. Parents will discuss coping methods for kids of all ages. Learn how you can empower your child to live positively with pulmonary hypertension.

PH is Relative: Coping as a Family Member Affected by PH
Pulmonary hypertension affects everyone in the family. Come to this session for tips on keeping your family relationships strong – whether you're focusing on your marriage, your relationship with an adult sibling or parent who has pulmonary hypertension, or you want to help your children cope with their parent’s diagnosis.

Ready, Set, Succeed: Working with Schools
Health Plans, I.E.P.s, and 504s are designed to meet your child's needs from pre-K to college. Parents of kids with pulmonary hypertension will discuss how to collaborate with your school to ensure your child's academic success in a safe environment.

The Caregiver’s Guide to Surviving Pulmonary Hypertension
With medications, errands, pharmacy calls, meals, and everything in between, who can keep up? This session will focus on the pulmonary hypertension caregiver. Hear from experienced caregivers about juggling all the balls in the air while finding ways to manage the stress of caregiving, and share your own thoughts about surviving as a caregiver.

Medically Led Sessions

Ask a Pediatrician – For Parents of Infants to 11-Year-Old Patients
The aims of therapy for pediatric patients are unique. This session will focus on treatment strategies and their impact on pediatric patients (ages 0-11) and their families.

Ask a Pediatrician – For Parents of  12 to 18-Year-Old Patients
Transitioning from pediatric to adult PH care can be difficult. This session will review pre-transition counseling, patient responsibility, and how to make a smooth transition for patients, parents and providers.

Medical Therapy for Children with PH
This session will describe how newly approved medications for adults are being used in children.

Surgical Problems for Children with PH
The panel with highlight various issues around anesthetics and processes when pediatric pulmonary hypertension patients undergo surgical procedures.
