Though Hurricane Isabel had just passed to the south,
no one could have asked for more beautiful weather September 8,
for the First Annual JFK Tower Golf Tournament. Held at Lido Country
Club on Long Island, 128 participated in the tournament, with
an additional 40 in attendance at the evening banquet. All proceeds
from the event go to the Pulmonary Hypertension Association (PHA)
and Skip (Sick Kids need Involved People) of New York.
Golfers were treated to a barbeque lunch prior to the tournament,
which included putting, hole-in-one and accuracy contests. Prizes
were awarded and a raffle held during the evening's banquet. With
sponsors that included over ten airlines, the prizes were much-coveted
and included airline tickets to such places as Costa Rica, Italy,
Jamaica, and South Africa!
Organized in part by the father of a four-year-old
with pulmonary hypertension (PH) that works at JFK Tower, the
outpouring of support by friends and colleagues was encouraging,
to say the least. As is evidenced by the photos
and video
available at www.jfktower.com,
a good time was had by all. Even those unable to attend this year's
tournament are already making plans to be in attendance at the
Second Annual JFK Tower Golf Tournament to be held September 13,
2004.
