Hiking Boots: The Newest Weapon for PH Doctors

August 8, 2007

Two extraordinary doctors on our scientific leadership council are also becoming leaders in special events. While they work year round to help their patients cope with this devastating disease, they are both taking to their feet as well to find a cure for pulmonary hypertension. We are grateful for the willingness of both of these physicians to do so much for the PH community! If you are a PH doctor (or other member of the PH community for that matter) and are interested in adding hiking boots to your arsenal against PH, or have another idea, contact Deirdre Farrell at event@PHAssociation.org or 301-565-3004 x125.

Dr. Ray BenzaDr. Ray Benza is Climbing for a Cure! Later this month he will collect the signatures of PH patients on a PHA flag and carry that flag during a 4 day climb to the top of the Grand Tetons Mountain in Wyoming. He is making this journey in memory of Katherine Hanks, R.N., who passed last May due to pulmonary hypertension. To learn more about Climbing for a Cure, please visit Ray Benza’s online fundraising page:

Dr. Mike McGoonDr. Mike McGoon is participating in the Minn. PHun Walk for a Cure, and has been using an online fundraising page to collect pledges. He’s been one of the top 5 best online fundraisers for PHA for nearly a month now, but welcomes competition! You can check out his page here:

You can put one of these widget boxes on your website or blog! Check it out when you visit the fundraising page if you're interested.
