Working in the field of pulmonary hypertension (PH) can often be challenging, heartbreaking and overwhelming. But what these experts do matters. And it’s inspiring!

Health care professionals who attend PHA’s 2019 PHPN Symposium, “Influencing the Practice: The Art and Science of Treating Pulmonary Hypertension,” Sept. 5-7 in Washington, D.C. will receive a huge dose of inspiration from PH expert George Ruiz, M.D., chief of cardiology at MedStar Union Memorial Hospital and MedStar Good Samaritan Hospital. He will speak during the opening session on the topic of “Why We Do What We Do.”

Dr. Ruiz will inspire Symposium participants to find their “why” and why it matters. In this session, he will explore and connect the collective journey in the care of PH patients. He will encourage attendees to examine the key concepts of finding their “why” and how it makes a difference in how they view their work, their patients and their lives. This session offers an inspirational start to what will be a weekend of learning, discussions and connecting for all health care professionals who attend.

A new feature of the opening night at Symposium will be a reception prior to Dr. Ruiz’s talk.
