Apply for a PHA Research Grant

Beakers in a labPHA provides grants to promising researchers in the field of pulmonary hypertension. The program fosters new leaders in the field by supporting their interest in PH research and providing them with opportunities to work with mentors and learn new skills. Researchers supported by PHA are looking for new methods for early detection, new treatments to prevent the onset of PH and ultimately a cure for this terrible illness.

PHA currently offers four active, independently reviewed cutting-edge research programs:

PHA/NHLBI Mentored Clinical Scientist Award (K08)/Mentored Patient-Oriented Research Career Development Award (K23)
A partnership with the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) that supports junior investigators. This program will offer one award in 2014. Applications for 2014 consideration will be due on July 12, 2014.

PHA/ATS Research Fellowship in Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension
A partnership grant program with the American Thoracic Society and Pfizer supporting faculty-level researchers. This program will offer one award in 2014. The application period for this funding focus area is currently closed.

PHA Proof of Concept Research Grants
This program offers support for new research projects that should result in the development of data enabling the investigator to apply for a larger, hypotheses-driven research project. This program will offer three awards in 2013. The application period for this funding focus area is currently closed.

Robyn Barst Pediatric PH Research and Mentoring Program
A unique grant opportunity designed to fund mentoring and research opportunities in pediatric PAH. The Barst Fund will fund two awards in 2014. The application period for this funding focus area is currently closed. Learn more about the development of the Barst Fund

 

 

PHA Researcher Spotlight

Dr. Yinzhong Zhang

In addition to his research, Dr. Zhang participates in PHA events, including PHA's 9th International PH Conference and Scientific Sessions in 2010. “I was deeply touched by the PH patients,” he says. “Their love of life drives me to work hard on my research, and I hope my results can really help them in the future.”
