Robyn Barst Pediatric PH Research and Mentoring Awards
The Pulmonary Hypertension Association is proud to offer this unique mentoring and research opportunity in pediatric pulmonary arterial hypertension.
Barst Fund RFA
Grants from the Barst Fund will provide support for a one year mentorship for young clinicians and researchers in the field of pediatric PAH. Grantees will be expected to engage with an experienced mentor who is able to provide oversight and training in pediatric PAH treatment, management and research. In addition to the mentor component, it is expected that grantees will complete a proof of concept research project. These novel projects combined with experienced mentor collaboration are expected to significantly advance the grantee's knowledge, and ultimately the field, of pediatric PAH. In 2013, up to three grants of $25,000 will be awarded.
One award made through the Barst Fund in 2013 is made possible through a generous donation to PHA from Ms. Betty Lou Wojciechowski in honor of her two late sons, Matthew and Michael, who lost their battle to PH as children. Their memory and fight continue through the research funded through this award.
Two awards made through the Barst Fund in 2013 will be in in honor of pediatric PH patient Cordelia through a generous, anonymous donation.
U.S.-based clinicians holding an MD, DO or equivalent degree are encouraged to apply. The applicant should be within the last year of fellowship training or junior faculty within five years of training with a strong career interest in pediatric PAH. Investigators are encouraged to connect to the PH medical community through membership in PH Clinicians and Researchers (PHA’s medical membership network) during the course of their research. Indirect costs will not be paid to the sponsoring institution.
The application period for grants from the Barst Fund is currently closed. Letters of Intent are generally accepted during the first quarter of the calendar year.
