To Create an Account
Go to the registration page, enter your
first name, last name, email address, handle (the name you would
like to go
by on the message baords), and a password.. Press the register button.
You will receive a confirmation email. If the link does not appear
as a link in your email, you can copy the link with your mouse and
paste it into your browser's address bar. Going to the link will confirm
your
message board registration.
Log-in
After confirming your account through email you will be able to log
in on the main page of the message boards and have full access to
the
boards. If you have logged in and fail to see the [Post New Topic]
or the [Post Reply] link, you have probably not confirmed your account,
and you may need to contact the board
administrator.
User Options
Each user has a personal profile that can be modified at any time.
You can choose to make the profile public (viewable by other registered
users) or private and can include personal information such as a
bio,
URL, and even a picture! All of this can be set up either at the time
of registration or later through the "My Account" page.
- To include a picture, it must already be available
on the web. You must then enter the web address or URL of your picture
into the "Your Image" section on your account editing page.
- Your email address can appear
alongside your username in posts. First, in your "My Account"
page, check the box next to your email address. Then, when you are
posting a message, check the "Show my email address in message"
box.
- Choosing to make your profile public will allow other users to
view your bio, picture, and email address. You can make your profile
public by checking the "Public Profile" box on your "My
Account" page.
To Post New Topics
Once you are logged in, you will see a link like this: [Post
New Topic] on each board page as shown below. When you click
on the link, you will be taken
to a page where you will be able to post a new topic. Be sure to
type in a title for you new post. If you have logged in and fail
to see
the [Post New Topic] or the [Post Reply] link, you
have probably not confirmed your account and you may need to contact
the board
administrator.
To Post A Reply
You can post a reply to a message when you are at the page where
the message is displayed. The link will look like this: [Post
Reply].
One link is located in the title row, and the other is located at
the bottom of the message above the signature as shown below. If
you have logged
in and fail to see the [Post New Topic] or the [Post Reply] link
you have probably not confirmed your account and you may need to
contact
the board administrator.
Page Views
Number of times a message has been viewed.
Track Threads
Clicking the [Track Threads] link will allow you to track
a topic easily. Each subsequent visit to the forum will sort these
particular
threads to the top of the list and each tracked thread will be “highlighted”
for easy identification. You can also choose to turn on email notification
to receive an email any time someone posts a new message to a thread
you are tracking.
Editing & Deleting Messages
Users are allowed to edit their own posts at any time. Edited messages
will be flagged with a note telling the viewer the message has
been
edited. A user can delete a message they posted if no one has replied
to it.
