Update on FAA and Supplemental Oxygen

The comment period has expired and the FAA is in the process of reviewing the submissions and issuing a final rule. Over 2,000 comments were received (mostly from individual patients who require supplemental oxygen). In addition to patients, several organizations (including PHA) and members of Congress weighed in on the proposal. It appears the FAA is predisposed to incorporating many of the improvements proposed by the community in the final rule. There is no timetable set for the release of the revised rule, although something is expected in November or December.
