Impotence drugs need stronger warning - group

WASHINGTON - Drugs to treat erectile dysfunction need stronger warnings on their packaging about the risk of blindness, U.S. consumer group Public Citizen said on Thursday in a petition filed with health regulators.

Pfizer Inc.‘s pulmonary hypertension drug Revatio, which has the same active ingredient as its impotence drug Viagra, should also carry a similar black box warning -- the strongest warning the agency can require, the advocacy group said.

PH Research Act Introduced in Senate

On September 27, Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) and Senator Barbara Mikulski (D-MD) stepped forward to introduce the PH Research Act in the Senate. The Senate bill follows identical House legislation which was introduced in June.

Today the House bill has over 237 co-sponsors standing in support - that's over half of the members of the House of Representatives, representing over half the population of the U.S.! Building this kind of support assures that PH is no longer a marginalized illness. We need your help to meet that record in the Senate. To date, five senators have already pledged their support for the PH Research Act. Join other members of the PH community and ask for your senators' support (http://www.phassociation.org/Take_Action/).
