March 22: Rock for the Cure with PHA in Washington, DC

Tell your friends and relatives in the Washington DC area that they are invited! RSVP to ROCKANDROLL@HUEMBWAS.ORG or (202) 966-7726. PHA has joined with the Hungarian Embassy to host a special fundraising concert entitled Rockin' for the Cure to raise awareness for PH on Wednesday, March 22 in Washington, DC. The event features rock performances from the Hungarian Ambassador Simonyi's band, Coalition of the Willing, singing from Charity Sunshine Tillemann-Dick, and remarks by Jack Valenti. All members of the PH community, their friends, and family are invited to attend this special event. Please check out the invitation and forward it on to your friends and family in the Washington, DC-area. The more, the merrier, so spread the good news far and wide! We look forward to seeing you there!

New! Online CME & CEU Medical Education Course Available for Medical Professionals

In the Fall of 2005, PHA hosted a series of six regional medical education sessions to educate medical professionals about Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH). Through this program, PHA was able to educate hundreds of medical professionals in six cities throughout the United States. In an effort to reach out and educate an even greater number of physicians and allied health professionals, PHA is pleased to offer an identical cme medical education session for online use. The online program should take 120 minutes to complete and is free of charge. Physicians will receive a maximum of 2 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s) and nurses will receive up to 2.4 contact hours.

Myogen Pulmonary Blood Pressure Treatment Gets Fast Tracked

The FDA has granted fast track designation to ambrisentan, a type-A selective endothelin receptor antagonist produced by Myogen, which is currently under development for pulmonary arterial hypertension.

CoTherix Initiates Combination Trial of PAH Drug

CoTherix has initiated a phase III trial of Ventavis inhalation solution in combination with sildenafil citrate for the treatment of pulmonary arterial hypertension.

Revatio has been launched in the UK for the treatment of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), a rare lung disorder that most commonly affects women aged 20-40. Revatio has the same active ingredient as Viagra - sildenafil.
