PH Awareness Rockin' for the Cure Concert a Huge Success

The Pulmonary Hypertension Association and the Embassy of Hungary hosted a PH awareness event as part of PHA's Faces of PH campaign. The Rockin' for the Cure rock concert featured PH patient Charity Sunshine Tillemann-Dick and the band The Coalition of the Willing. The concert, held at the 9:30 Club, one of Washington, DC's premier rock venues, brought out approximately 800 people and raised gross revenues of $65,000 for pulmonary hypertension.

FDA Says Encysive Lung Drug "Approvable"

Encysive Pharmaceuticals Inc.'s drug Thelin is "approvable" for treating a rare, often-fatal lung condition, a U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) spokeswoman said. The FDA sent an "approvable letter" to the company saying Thelin could be approved if certain conditions were met, FDA spokeswoman Susan Cruzan said. She did not disclose the conditions.

United Therapeutics' Remodulin Study OK'd

United Therapeutics said it has been OK'd on a study needed for accelerated approval of hypertension drug Remodulin. The company also said it has also been granted expanded labeling for its treprostinil sodium injection, indicated for the treatment of pulmonary arterial hypertension.
