DON'T BE LEFT OUT IN THE COLD
There's still time to ensure that PHA is meeting your needs and to help shape PHA's future! Now's the time to participate in one of PHA's surveys if you haven't already done so.

PH CHAMPION DIAGNOSED WITH CANCER
SEND YOUR WELL WISHES TODAY
Rep. Lantos at PH Resource Network Lobby DayLong-time PH champion, Congressman Tom Lantos (D-CA), recently announced his decision not to run for re-election due to his recent diagnosis with cancer of the esophagus. He will retire at the end of 2008. With Tom's retirement, the PH community will lose a champion in Congress. However, nothing can diminish the tremendous strides that PH advocacy has made thanks to his unfailing leadership during the past five years.

Please take a few moments to say thank you to this PH hero before Jan. 28.
PHA will deliver your cards, letters, and e-mails in a special presentation on Tom's 80th birthday.
IT'S OFFICIAL! NOVEMBER DECLARED PH AWARENESS MONTH IN NEW JERSEY
Last spring, we shared the story of Patty Farrow, a PH patient living in New Jersey, who worked successfully for a resolution declaring November Pulmonary Hypertension Awareness Month in her town. Not only that, with a little persistence Patty had seen her local resolution advance to the state level.

SPRING IS IN THE AIR

Ok...so perhaps the flowers are not quite in bloom (in fact here in Maryland we are a bit buried in snow)...

But this is the time to start planning that spring Funwalk or other special event you have always dreamed of hosting!

If you are interested in planning a Funwalk, or other fundraising event, please contact Deirdre Farrell, PHA's Special Event Coordinator, at event@PHAssociation.org or 301-565-3004 x125.

BUILDING MEDICAL EDUCATION IN PH
Yale University PH Center hosts 2nd Annual Pulmonary Hypertension Symposium

Registration is now open for the Yale CME activity, the 2nd Annual Pulmonary Hypertension Symposium, being held on June 6, 2008 at The Inn at Longshore, Westport, Conn. The proper diagnosis, classification and treatment of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) and its distinction from other forms of PH is a complicated and rigorous algorithm. This symposium will provide current educational information to properly diagnosis and treat PH.

This is a Building Medical Education in PH event. These events are designed to foster partnerships between PHA and PH Centers to promote continuing education in the field of Pulmonary Hypertension through CME educational events. If you would like to partner with PHA in promoting your next CME event, please contact Jennifer Carman, Meetings Planning Associate, at 301-565-3004 x123 or Jennifer@PHAssociation.org.

PLEASE RE-MARK YOUR CALENDAR

If you have received PHA's 2008 "Community of Hope" calendar, please note that there is one correction: The First Wojo Golf Classic will take place Monday, July 21, in Dana Point, Calif. (It is listed on July 28.) We encourage the duffers out there to take part in this tournament, named in memory of Jerry "WOJO" Wojciechowski, a beloved husband, father, teacher and friend who battled PH for 13 years.

WANTED: COLOR COPIER

As PHA's programs grow, the need has arisen for a high-capacity color photocopier. As a non-profit organization, we want to target our funds directly to programs and services that make life better for PH patients and enhance the work of medical professionals who treat them.

If you have a connection with a company that manufactures or distributes photocopiers that might consider a full or partial donation to PHA, please contact Andrew at 301-565-3004 x116 or Andrew@PHAssociation.org.
