WHAT'S EVEN MORE MONUMENTAL THAN THE STATE OF THE UNION SPEECH?

FUN VIDEOS TO INSPIRE YOU AND BRIGHTEN YOUR DAY!
Our Journeys is a way for PH community members to share the hope, heartbreak, challenges and inspiration of their personal stories with one another. These stories appear on PHA's website, in Pathlight and even at Conference. They are also a resource for reporters looking to add a personal touch to their coverage of PH. This month, brighten a gloomy day by watching footage from the Conference 2006 Journeys Luncheon.

While you're there, you can also see highlights of the media coverage received by PH community members in the Faces of PH campaign video.

Feeling inspired? PHA's website offers materials to get you started turning your personal PH journey into a powerful awareness-raising tool.

SUPPORT GROUP LEADER RE-LAUNCHES WITH FIRST MEETING
In a town of 4,000, Alex Flipse found another patient and started her Support Group in 1999. After her fellow local patient passed away, she took a break from running her group.

Last winter, she discovered that there was yet another patient in her small town. A woman wearing a Flolan fanny-pack walked into the department store where she works at daily, and this motivated her to start her group up again.

With help from PHA, she connected with her local specialty pharmacy and pharmaceutical companies. She's running the group in the next town over, Victoria, Texas, as this region is much larger (population 200,000) and there are more patients in the community.

Their first meeting is March 8, and Alex is busy making plans. If you're in the Victoria, Texas, area, check it out.

PHA RECEIVES HIGHEST CHARITY NAVIGATOR RATING FOR FIFTH CONSECUTIVE YEAR

As we were preparing to go "to press" with this edition of PHANews, we just learned that PHA has earned our fifth consecutive 4-star rating from Charity Navigator. Charity Navigator, an independent charity evaluator, assesses the financial health of 5,300 of America's best-known charities. According to the notification, only 3% of the charities it has rated received at least five consecutive 4-star evaluations, "indicating that the Pulmonary Hypertension Association outperforms most charities in America in its efforts to operate in the most fiscally responsible way possible." We are very pleased to receive this designation.

We don't think Groucho Marx had it right when he said: "I won't belong to any organization that would have me as a member."

If you aren't a member of PHA, we would love to have you! Not only do you personally benefit from your membership, you join thousands of others in supporting patient, family and medical professional services, expanded research and education, building awareness of PH, and changing the history of this illness.
