I was diagnosed with pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) in August of 2009. In April, I went to hospital for a hernia repair not a big deal. I woke up five days later. I went into total renal and respiratory failure. They said it was a reaction to the anesthetic. Went home with four liters of oxygen 24 hours a day 7 days a week. My doctor referred me to a pulmonologist in Sacramento. My life changed that day. He said I need a right heart catheterization. This would be another month I continued working. Soon I knew I couldn't work anymore. The feeling of not being able to work anymore was very hard.
