A Kitchen Table Moment

Support Group Leaders Gather Around the Kitchen TableIt was around a kitchen table that PHA’s founders first met to discuss the birth of an organization. That same table was featured at PHA’s 10th International PH Conference, becoming the site of even more great ideas.

One support group leader, Cristina Nates from Florida, wanted advice to engage her members in becoming involved in group activities. She sat at the kitchen table in the Conference exhibit hall to talk to a leader, and before she knew it, a number of leaders began gathering around to share their ideas and stories from their experiences in running groups.

Debbie Castro, PHA Volunteer Services Director, and Sophie Klein, PHA Volunteer Services Associate, joined leaders Mack and Mary McCarthy (Phoenix, Ariz.), Kiara Tatum (Mid-Hudson, New York), Kim Ford (DC Capital Breathers), Amanda Harvey-McKee (St. Louis, Mo.), Gwen Brown (Cleveland Community), Cristina Nates (Latino del Sur de la Florida) and Vern and Joy Gore (Let's Breathe! Bullhead City/Laughlin).

It looks like that kitchen table is an inspiration to us all!
