Things I Found on PHA's Website: Transplant and PH
If I were to list frequently asked questions found throughout the years on the PHA Discussion Board, lung transplant issues would be a part of that FAQ. Recently while reading a post about transplant, this phrase stayed with me: "the whole thing brings us a lot of fear.”
For many of us the whole transplant process is such an unknown. It's not as unknown as PH was (remember when you had not even heard of PH?) since we hear about organ transplant often in the media. But faced with the possibility personally, it is something new.
This month I have found Transplant and Pulmonary Hypertension, a newly revamped section on the PHA website. Read about the transplant procedure, from how to prepare financially, to what to expect before, during and after transplant.
There are sections geared to patients, information for family and friends and a page of additional resources. There are links to PHA Classroom videos about transplant, the transplant email group and our transplant mentor program.
Transplant and Pulmonary Hypertension will provide information you can trust and support you can count on, and you will be prepared with questions to ask your PH professionals.
I'll close with wise words read in a discussion board post about transplant: "Keep your head up and work hard to get the best care and answers from trained specialists if you can.”
