Ray Morris raised more than $5,000 from his Circle of Friends campaign. Here are some tips for success he wants to share with you:
- Don’t be exclusive when compiling your list of friends and family to send your letter to. I received some large donations from people I almost left out.
- Don’t worry about asking family and friends for money. You are helping all patients with PH, not just yourself, so don’t feel selfish. You are doing this for the greater good.
- Send a follow up thank-you note to those who gave to your campaign. Let them know if you reached your goal and give them an update on your health. They want to know how you’re doing.
- Consider timing! If you choose to send your letters toward the end of the year, make sure to let people know that their donations are tax-deductible and try to get your letters to them before other charities ask for their donation.
- Have fun! Friends and family sent words of encouragement along with their donations. It made me feel good to know that so many people supported and cared about me!
