PHAction - Insurance

Many insurance companies do not know about PH or effective treatments for the illness. This misinformation leads to denial of coverage and claims. You can help to change this trend by educating your insurance company.

Steps:

1. Collect insurance contact information
   Your can find the insurance companies contact information on your member card or bill.
    
2. Direct your information to the right source
   Call the insurance company and ask to whom educational materials should be directed. Record this person's name with the insurance contact information on your insurance evaluation form.
    
3. Order an insurance education packet from PHA
   You should ask for one of these for each party you plan on contacting.
    
4. Write a cover letter
   You can do this easily by using the sample script included in the insurance education kit.
    
5. Send the packet
   Send your cover letter and insurance education packet to your contact at the insurance company.
    
6. Tell PHA
   Send a copy of your cover letter and insurance evaluation form to PHA. Upon receipt, PHA will send you a certificate of recognition and offer the opportunity to connect with other active members of the PH community.
