WHEREAS: the health of our community's people is the
foundation for a caring and productive society, and our future
rests with our ability to find cures for, and adequately treat
individuals who are afflicted with a variety of illnesses including
pulmonary hypertension.
WHEREAS: pulmonary hypertension is a rare disorder causing
intolerable blood pressure levels in the arteries between the
lungs and heart. Historically, it has been chronic and incurable
with a poor survival rate
WHEREAS: early diagnosis can lead to early treatment
and the possibility of improved quality of life and prolonged
life
WHEREAS: education can help with early diagnosis and
funding for research can help find a cure
WHEREAS: the Pulmonary Hypertension Association is a
nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life
for those with pulmonary hypertension through education and awareness
and through research, member services and patient and family support
NOW THEREFORE, I, Governor or Mayor's name, Governor
or Mayor of the State or Commonwealth of XXXX, do hereby proclaim
November 20XX to be
PULMONARY HYPERTENSION AWARENESS MONTH
and urge all the citizens of the State or Commonwealth to recognize
the seriousness of this disease and the meritorious work of the
Pulmonary Hypertension Association to find a cure.
