CALIFORNIA RESIDENTS TAKE ACTION:
There are three ways you can help: Call! Write! Visit!
If you don’t know how to reach your elected officials you can look them up, then...
1. Visit! If you have the time and ability, face to face visits with your assembly member and senator are a powerful way to send your message. PHA and ACCESS are working together to provide California residents with the tools and support to make these visits as easy as possible. View talking points (PDF) |View tips for a successful visit
If you would like assistance scheduling or planning your visit, contact ACCESS at 1-888-700-7010
2. Call! If you can’t make a visit, make a phone call. View a sample phone script (PDF)
3. Write! If writing is more your style, send a letter or e-mail. View a sample letter (PDF) |
California has instituted budget cuts that decrease the amount that specialty pharmacies are reimbursed for the services they provide to PH patients receiving Medi-Cal.
As we in the PH community know, treatments for PH are complex. A patient who has just been prescribed Flolan or Remodulin needs some assistance to learn the ropes. Often, that is where specialty pharmacies come in. They not only provide the drug, but also education, training, and an emergency hotline — a much-needed “safety net” for PH patients taking life-saving medication.
If specialty pharmacies are underfunded in California, they may be forced to limit the scope of the services they provide to PH patients. Please take a few minutes to contact key legislators in California and ask them to repeal the 10% budget cuts to health and human services, particularly those that reduce reimbursement for PH medications.
If you are not a California resident but you know individuals who are, please pass this alert on and ask for their help. The do not need to be a PH patient themselves in order to speak out against these cuts.

Another way you can help
Help PHA and ACCESS create a banner to remind elected officials that their decisions impact real people.
- Print out this sheet of four “every breath I take” postcards (PDF).
- Fill in the front of the postcard (the side with the image!) with your signature, printed name, and full address. Add a personal message if you like.
- Share the postcards with your friends and family for them to fill out.
