a PHA Fundraiser!
The Purpose of a PHA Fundraiser is to raise awareness and generate
funds for research. PH is a rare disease with no cure. Increased
awareness leads to early diagnosis. Early diagnosis and treatment
extends a patient’s life span and their quality of life. Research
can lead to a cure.
Pulmonary Hypertension Awareness Month occurs each November. Many
of the events listed below are scheduled to occur during Awareness
Month so
that we can magnify the effect of such events
and take the level of awareness to greater heights.
Committee of Correspondence
The Committee of Correspondence is designed to help people who want
to raise funds for PHA through a letter writing campaign to friends
and family members. To receive an introductory packet explaining this

Planned Events
PHA Golf Tournaments
– Birdies, Eagles, Bogies abound in creating a fun environment, generating
funding for PH research. putting contests and golf clinics are added
attractions. Tournaments are scheduled nationally, and more than 10
tournaments are scheduled for 2001-2002.
PHSpree - Shopping for the Cure - Ask your local shopping
mall if they sponsor any fundraising events. Westfield Shopping Malls
do, one day each year; and PH shoppers use the opportunity to bring
in dollars for PH. The Greater NY PHA Support Group turned shopping
into a special event and raised $3,000 for PHA and research for PH.
PHPizza Nite – A special event that takes very little
effort and makes a ho-hum night into a special event. Coordinating the
event with your neighborhood elementary school and the local pizza delivery
gives hungry donors a treat and provides PHA with dollars for research
for the cure.
Blue Jeans for PH
Raising awareness & funds in your workplace
PHA has created a simple kit to help you organize a "Blue Jeans
for PH" day at your office. The event is a fun and easy way to
spread the word about this rare illness while giving your co-workers
the opportunity to support an important cause. We've included everything
you should need to plan a successful event at your office, including
sample flyers. To receive a copy of the kit, please email development@phassociation.org or

Make Up Your Own
Just make up your own event - Whether it be a birthday, a workday,
or selling your own crafts. Your activities can help the PHA in its
search for the cure.
