Lipstix Golf and PHA Swing for a Cure

Lipstix Golf of Ann Arbor, Michigan, is teaming up with the Pulmonary Hypertension Association (PHA) to help find a cure for Pulmonary Hypertension (PH), a rare and incurable lung disease.

Lipstix Golf has developed a PH club and will donate 20% of the proceeds of the sale of each of these clubs to PHA to help find a cure. The club is painted purple and has PH’s support ribbon on the grip.

PH is a simplified name for a complex health problem. It is referred to as the other high blood pressure. PH is a rare and currently incurable condition that results from damage to the pulmonary arteries. While considered primarily a disease of women of child-bearing age, PH can strike anyone – young and old, male and female, alike. Symptoms include shortness of breath, fainting, and fatigue.

“This cause is very near and dear to our family. My younger sister, Denise, was diagnosed with this terrible disease four years ago after the birth of her son. We want to do everything we can to ensure she is around to see her son grow up,” said Michelle Seals, President of Lipstix Golf.

Denise Turner, 38, was diagnosed four years ago with pulmonary hypertension. Because the symptoms can be very vague, a patient can go several years without a correct diagnosis which is precious time to lose. Because of PHA, Denise was diagnosed just two months after the birth of her son, Jack.

“Without the help and information I received from PHA, I don’t think I would be here to tell my story. I had never heard of PH and the only information I could find told me that the survival rate was three years after diagnosis. As I looked into the face of my newborn son, I knew I had to give it my all. PHA gave me hope and information that has led me to a successful treatment path,” said Denise Turner, PH patient.

The PH Club is currently for sale at www.lipstixgolf.com. To learn more about PH, visit www.phassociation.org.
