How to Apply
All special event organizers seeking support from the Central Fund must complete an online grant application. There are two versions of the Central Fund application: one for first-time event planners and one for experienced event planners organizing their second event or beyond.
The First-Time Event Planners Application is for volunteers who are organizing their first PHA-recognized special event. It supplements PHA’s Special Event Seed Grant application. If you are a first-time special event organizer, and you have received a PHA Seed Grant, you are ready to complete this online application for a Central Fund grant. The Experienced Event Planners Application is for volunteers who are in their second year or more of planning a PHA-recognized special event. This application will ask for details about past event history along with an event budget and plan of action.
All applications will be reviewed by an independent volunteer committee comprised of patients and caregivers who are active in the PHA community. Approval of sponsorship will be based on thoroughness of the application and, for veteran event planners, past event attendance and fundraising success. The review process takes an average of three weeks to complete. During this period, someone from PHA may contact you with additional questions about your completed application.
We encourage you to submit your grant applications at least three to four months in advance of your event to allow ample time for the committee to evaluate your request as well as allow adequate time for you to recognize your sponsorship in marketing and promotional materials.
PHA also offers a Support Group Central Fund, made possible by a Platinum level sponsorship from Actelion Pharmaceuticals and United Therapeutics, a Gold level sponsorship from Gilead Sciences and a Silver level sponsorship from Lung LLC., to address similar needs for PHA support group meetings.
