PH community members have planned a wide variety of exciting events in their hometowns! When deciding on the kind of event to host, consider your resources and what you would most enjoy planning.
This chart gives you an idea of time, funding and volunteer commitments needed for common types of PHA special events.
One thing puts the “special” in PHA’s Special Events program: each event is unique, reflecting the local community and personality of each volunteer organizer. In addition to the list of events above, volunteer special event organizers have hosted kite festivals, carnivals, art sales, cut-a-thons and casino nights!
No matter what event you choose, PHA will be here to help.

Karen Puopolo and her son plan an annual Bocce Tournament (a popular Italian lawn game) for PHA
“I don’t think there are many bocce tournaments around, so it’s rather unique and lots of fun. For anyone thinking of doing a similar event, all I can say is go for it! We didn’t have a clue what we were doing at first and yet things worked out better than I could have ever expected.” - Karen
