MEDIA GUIDE
Sample Press Release
Submit your press release to news outlets a few weeks before your event. Remember that reporters are always looking for connections between news and the community, so consider highlighting the story of a local patient to emphasize the importance of raising awareness and funds to fight pulmonary hypertension.
Most reporters prefer to receive press releases through email. Cut and paste the text of your release into the body of the email — if you add it as an attachment your email may get stuck in a spam filter.

[DESCRIBE PH] Pulmonary hypertension is a simplified name for a complex health problem—continuous high blood pressure in the pulmonary artery in the lungs, resulting in an enlarged heart which can lose its ability to pump. There is no cure. In 1985, patients had a 50% of surviving 2.8 years past diagnosis, but thanks to new treatments, prognosis is improving. PHA’s goal is to provide hope to the pulmonary hypertension community through support, education, advocacy and awareness. The “PH community” helps fulfill this mission by helping to raise awareness and funds to support PH patients and find a cure.
