Tip of the Issue Merle ReesemanThis issue’s advice comes from Merle Reeseman, organizer of the Cleveland Area PH Support Group 4th Annual Walk and Roll:
“Even though you may want to, you should not and probably are not able to do this on your own. Support is important – ask other members for their help, they are more than willing to help and would probably consider it an honor that you asked. Do you need media coverage? Who can reach out to those beyond the PH patient (their families, friends, co-workers)? Do you need help with the location for this special event (is there a charge)? Will the location accommodate the number of ‘pholks’ attending the event? Is the location central to all? How will you know how many will be attending (plans needed for that – call or mailing list)?
“PHA has several people who can offer advice or suggestions on which way to turn. Many Support Group Leaders would also be willing to ‘tell it like it is/was,’ what they did for their fundraiser or what had to be done to get a special speaker.
“It isn’t always an easy process but the benefits are priceless."
We invite you to send in any tips, words of wisdom or encouraging advice that you wish to share with other event planners to Jenna Roe, PHA's Special Events Associate, at Eventful@PHAssociation.org. We will include some of the submissions in every issue of Event-ful Times!
