BUILDING AN EFFECTIVE ASSOCIATION
Getting Down to Work
Two of the biggest challenges for associations – both as they are being established and even once they are off the ground – may be funding the work of the group, and engaging volunteer help for that work.
As your association grows, you will likely find that your expenses do as well – you will have more members to serve, and more ambitious programs to develop. Hopefully, you will also find that your sources of income also grow as you build relationships with donors and sponsors, sell merchandise, and continually refine your budget.
You may also find that you have the resources to pursue your work, but not the manpower. You may find that as your goals and commitments to the community increase, you require more help than did when you were first beginning. Fortunately, many associations have faced these challenges; they are not insurmountable!
