Raye Bohn Receives First 2010 Awareness Month Proclamation
Make Your Proclamation Request Today!
Connecticut Governor Jodi Rell has already proclaimed November Pulmonary Hypertension Awareness Month. Why? Because PH patient Raye Bohn asked her to.
Proclamation requests are about raising PH awareness and Raye’s efforts are a perfect example. All proclamations become part of the public record and are available to the entire community. Recently, Raye met Governor Rell at a local event and personally thanked her for proclaiming November PH Awareness Month. She was pleased to find that the governor was familiar with PH. Raye also asked her PH specialist, Dr. Foley, to display the proclamation in his waiting room.
Proclamations also offer an opportunity to reach out to the local media and share your PH journey or increase attention to your special event. For Raye, requesting a proclamation meant contacting the governor’s office and filling out the online request forms. “It was easy,” she says. “Don’t be afraid to ask!”
Last year, PHA was notified of nearly two dozen awareness month proclamations issued around the country. This year, let’s double our impact by securing 40 proclamations. Request a proclamation in your state, city or town today! Thanks to an unrestricted educational grant from Pfizer, PHA has new proclamation resources for you to use and share, including video advice from PH patient Doug Taylor.
