Inland Northwest PH Support Group Fundraising Luncheon
November 5, 2010
A Tribute to Event Organizer Linda Pall
On Friday, November 5, the Inland Northwest PH Support Group celebrated its Eighth Annual Fundraising Luncheon at the historic Davenport Hotel in Spokane, Wash. In addition to being a fundraising luncheon, the event also celebrates the support group’s anniversary. Support Group Leader Linda Pall founded both the support group and luncheon in 2003. After eight years of dedicated service, Linda is stepping down as luncheon planner and will pass the torch to others in the support group.
The group, which covers Western Montana, Northern Idaho and Eastern Washington, originally held the luncheon with the purpose of gathering together for a day of support and fellowship. The event includes an awards ceremony honoring one outstanding patient, caregiver, medical professional and patient employer through a nomination process. Additionally, guest speakers, from leading medical professionals to this year’s speaker, Carl Hicks, Jr., PHA’s Immediate Past-Chair of the Board of Trustees, have been a staple of the event.
Thanks to Linda’s guidance, the luncheon has grown to include sponsorship and fundraising components that support PHA’s research program. By inviting pharmaceutical companies to host sponsorship tables at the event and incorporating a silent auction into the day’s happenings, the luncheon has become a multi-faceted function. This year’s event added a fun twist to the silent auction by including Thanksgiving-themed baskets for bid, and the local Dozier Jazz Duo performed for attendees.
With the successful completion of the eighth luncheon, Linda now hands the reins over to others. Her work with the Annual Fundraising Luncheon has provided an invaluable opportunity for members and families to gather in celebration while also emphasizing the importance of raising funds for PH research. We thank her for her dedication and spirit through the years.
