Things I Found by Kathryn Frix: PHA's Mentor Program
Remember Cheers? "Sometimes you want to go where everybody knows your name." But sometimes you are "frustrated, tired and cranky!!!" as one of our new community members said. And sometimes you are puzzled, anxious and unsure. Sometimes you don't know the questions to ask, and you are uncertain about posting to the email groups or discussion board, let alone venturing into an online support group chat. At those times, just one special person to talk to may be what helps the most.
PHA Mentors are those special people. They are PH patients and caregivers, and through one-on-one email-based support they will help you navigate the information and resources you need, sharing what they have learned along the way on their own PH journeys. Patient mentors are listed by gender, age, topic of interest and associated disease, if applicable. We also have mentors for caregivers of adult PH patients and parents of young PH patients. There are even mentors who will help you with PH awareness-raising, fundraising and special events. On the site you’ll find profile pages with photos and information to make it easier to select your mentor.
You will need to sign in to the website in order to view the mentor listings and profiles. That is an easy and free thing to do, just go to the Sign In page and click on the New User Registration link below the Sign In form.
If you are newly diagnosed, if you are a PH caregiver and need support and someone to talk to, if you are new to the web and unsure how to navigate all the resources -- if you are dealing with PH and need care, help and hope -- a PHA Mentor is ready to help you. Get started now
