PHAmerica Honors Essays

The PHAmerica Honors Ambassador Awards program was started by PH community member Brenda Reynolds. The mission behind the PHAmerica Honors Ambassador Awards is to identify members of the PH community who promise to implement new and exciting ways to reach others with information about PH and to give PH patients, caregivers and their families opportunities for positivity. Each award was given based on an essay written by each Award candidate describing how they would be a voice for the PH community. Those essays, along with those written by other candidates appear below.

Sylvia Creach - PHAmerica Plus Ambassador
Representing PH patients who have a secondary disease along with PH.

Joshua Mycal Griffis - PHAmerica Rookies Ambassador Runner-Up AND PHAmerica Co-PHellows Ambassador
Representing newly diagnosed patients (Rookies) and men (PHellows) diagnosed with PH.

Jeannie Kendrick - PHAmerica Prime Ambassador
Representing those pulmonary hypertension patients who are over 40.

Melanie Kozak - PHAmerica Generation Hope Ambassador
Representing Generation Hope and other young people affected by PH.

Jane Northrop - PHAmerica Pillars Ambassador
Representing those who are a caregiver/family member to a PH patient.

Jhenna Pacelli - PHAmerica Rookies Ambassador
Representing newly diagnosed pulmonary hypertension patients (less than 18 months).

Dave Rider - PHAmerica Co-PHellows Ambassador (shared with Joshua Griffis)
Representing men diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension.
