Conference 2012 Advocacy Challenge

We Made PH Count!

“This process is a numbers game. Because PH affects relatively few Americans compared to other diseases, it is even more important that we have a good proportion of our community talking to their Congressional representatives.”
-Laura D’Anna

The goal for PHA’s Conference Advocacy Challenge was to inundate Congress with more than 1100 requests for co-sponsorship of the Tom Lantos Pulmonary Hypertension Research and Education Act by the end of PHA’s 10th International PH Conference in June 2012. Since the beginning of the year, PHers have called, emailed and written to their Senators and Representative 1,280 times!

Keep the momentum going! Contact Elisabeth at Advocacy@PHAssociation.org or 301-565-3004 x753 to find out how you can get involved in advocacy — an activity that benefits the entire PH community!

From a Kitchen Table to Congress

When it comes to passing legislation in Congress, two things make a big impact: numbers and powerful personal stories. The pulmonary hypertension community may have started around a kitchen table, but now there are hundreds of thousands of people whose lives have been touched by the disease. Each of you has a powerful story that can make a huge impact!

The Challenge

Stand up and be counted by contacting your senators and representative about the PH Research and Education Act before our International PH Conference in June. Share the story of how PH has impacted your life and request co-sponsorship of our bill. Whether you email, call, write or visit, PHA will tally all the times you and others contact Members of Congress. We'll announce the results in person on June 24, the final day of Conference, and here online.
