What unique skills do you bring to the role of a Support Line Volunteer?

I feel like I bring my sense of humor with dealing with pulmonary hypertension to those I speak to on the Support Line. Sometimes I hear a caller saying they are having a bad day. I encourage them to do what I do and call those “bad” days “not so good” days. I want to bring positive thoughts and laughs during my calls when I can.

What inspires you?

After getting PH, I was never able to go back to my career. PH is my new normal, and I absolutely enjoy being a Support Line Volunteer. My old life was taken, and this new life with PH and being a Support Line Volunteer has given me a new purpose in life.

What’s your best advice for others living with PH?

Smile, it’s contagious. And there’s always hope. With 12 treatments, we have so much hope.
