Lobby Locally: Making the Most of Election Season to Fight PH
July 13, 2012
"Sometimes the reason a Member of Congress hasn't signed onto a bill is simply because no one has ever asked. If someone took the time to visit about a bill, then that means it's important to them." -Sara Mabry, Legislative Aide to Senator Robert Casey (D-PA)
Direct contact from a constituent is the most common reason for a Member of Congress to support PH initiatives. This August, Congress will go into recess and your senators and representative will return to their states to meet face-to-face with their constituents about the issues that matter to them. Take advantage of this golden opportunity to meet with your Members of Congress to urge them to cosponsor the only PH specific bill in Congress, the Tom Lantos Pulmonary Hypertension Research and Education Act.
During this webinar, you'll get expert advice and tips from Dane Christiansen, PHA's Washington Representative. Plus you'll hear from PH advocate Steph Layer about how she makes the most of district visits.
