Scientific Leadership Council

PHA's Scientific Leadership Council (SLC) is composed of 28 global leaders in the field of pulmonary hypertension. Coordinating the medical arm of PHA, they provide medical and scientific leadership and guidance for the mission of the Pulmonary Hypertension Association and oversee the development of the wide array of all PHA’s medical programming. SLC members proactively facilitate the development of new knowledge about pulmonary hypertension, develop educational resources for medical and public audiences and advocate to raise awareness about pulmonary hypertension.

Members of the SLC are clinicians, research scientists and nurses in medical centers recognized for performing outstanding research and providing excellent care for patients with pulmonary hypertension.  Learn more about SLC members

Education

PHA’s Medical Education events include PHA’s International PH Conference, the largest gathering of patients, caregivers and medical professionals in the PH community. SLC committees develop programming for these communities through the Medically Led and Scientific Sessions at Conference.

Publications

The SLC-led Journal Editorial Board develops Advances in Pulmonary Hypertension, the world's first and most comprehensive medical journal dedicated to pulmonary hypertension. SLC members also provide editorial oversight to medical content for all of PHA’s publications such as Pathlight as well as authorship of fact sheets and consensus statements available online.

Research

Under the guidance of the SLC, PHA’s Research Program has grown exponentially in just under a decade, supporting the work of close to 50 researchers in the field of pulmonary hypertension.

Promoting Awareness in the Medical Community

As more treatments are being developed for pulmonary hypertension, it becomes even more important that patients are diagnosed early and receive the medical care most appropriate for their needs. Responding to this need, the SLC has led in developing four comprehensive programs through the Medical Education Fund to educate not only the medical community but patients as well.
