PHA provides grants to promising researchers in the field of pulmonary hypertension. The program fosters new leaders in the field by supporting their interest in PH research and providing them with opportunities to work with mentors and learn new skills. Researchers supported by PHA are looking for new methods for early detection, new treatments to prevent the onset of PH and ultimately a cure for this terrible illness.
PHA offers five independently reviewed cutting-edge research programs each year:
NEW! Robyn Barst Pediatric Research and Mentoring Program
A unique grant opportunity designed to fund mentoring and research opportunities in pediatric PAH. The Barst Fund will fund up to three awards in 2013. The application period for grants from the Barst Fund is currently closed. Letters of Intent are generally accepted during the first quarter of the calendar year. PHA Proof of Concept Research Grants
This program offers support for new research projects that should result in the development of data enabling the investigator to apply for a larger, hypotheses-driven research project. This program will offer two awards in 2013. The application period for grants from the Proof of Concept Fund is currently closed. Letters of Intent are generally accepted during the first quarter of the calendar year.
PHA/ATS Research Fellowship in Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension
A partnership grant program with the American Thoracic Society and Pfizer supporting faculty-level researchers. This program will offer one award in 2013. The application period for the PHA/ATS Foundation Research Fellowship in PAH is currently closed.
PHA/NHLBI Mentored Clinical Scientist Award (K08)/Mentored Patient-Oriented Research Career Development Award (K23)
A partnership with the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) that supports junior investigators. This program will offer one award in 2013.
PHA Fellow Career Development Awards
A program designed to prepare physicians for a career in PH medicine and research. PHA will be offering at least one awards in 2013.
